Why stainless steel?

Stainless steel is the only option for a product that must withstand high temperatures and be outside year-round.

Inside: Ordinary steels break down at high temperatures starting at about 400 degrees. The material will burn through and particles come off. Besides making the material weaker and weaker, it is also unsanitary where you are handling food.

Stainless steel can withstand over 900 degrees. At high temperatures, the material will discolor but retain its strength and remain smooth. In addition, it is easy to clean. Not for nothing is stainless steel used in all kinds of applications in the professional kitchen.

Exterior: Steel with a wet paint on it will rust, making it very high maintenance.

The exterior of Braaimaster is stainless steel or CORTEN steel. Powder-coated stainless steel will remain beautiful, even in the long term. Should there be some damage, for example from a scratch, this is not a problem because of the substrate. The material will not rust through. CORTEN steel is also completely maintenance-free and very suitable for outdoor use.

CORTEN is also called weathering steel and is completely maintenance-free. An oxide layer forms such that the underlying material is protected. CORTEN steel gives a very natural look to outdoor products. The CORTEN Braaimaster is supplied blank and will discolor beautifully over time.

The Braaimaster is completely double-walled so the outside does not get too hot. This is safe to use, but therefore also suitable to be built in under your canopy.

The Braaimaster can be used with charcoal and wood. Working with wood and thus fire gives more atmosphere but also ensures a nice heat distribution in the braai box. In general, the harder the wood the better. Woods such as oak or ash are very suitable, but the best result gives our Sekelbos from Namibia.

There are several ways and everyone has their own preference. An easy method is to place firelighters on a piece of wood under the charcoal maker and then light it. It also helps to fill the charcoal maker with some thinner cubes when starting the fire so it can easily catch fire. Another method is the Swiss method. Then you start the fire from the top. Check out our tutorial on how to light the fire on the Braaimaster.

Where there is fire, there is no smoke. The Firebox is designed to maximize oxygen supply. Alternate thicker logs with thinner logs for beautiful flames. Place the logs upright in the Firebox for even more oxygen and thus better and faster ignition.
